What is NADCA — and How Does a Business Qualify?
The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) is the industry authority on HVAC system cleaning, established to promote safe, effective, and ethical duct cleaning practices. To become a NADCA member, a business must meet strict requirements that go beyond basic licensing or insurance.
Here’s how a company qualifies for NADCA membership:
✅ Certified Personnel
The business must employ at least one Air Systems Cleaning Specialist (ASCS) — a technician who has passed a proctored exam demonstrating deep knowledge of HVAC system cleaning, contamination control, and best practices. This certification must be renewed every three years.
✅ Adherence to NADCA Standards
Members must follow NADCA’s ACR Standard (Assessment, Cleaning, and Restoration), which outlines the approved procedures for inspecting, cleaning, and restoring HVAC systems to ensure proper airflow and air quality.
✅ Ethics and Conduct
Businesses must sign and uphold NADCA’s Code of Ethics, which includes:
Honest, transparent communication
Accurate service representation
Commitment to customer satisfaction and safety
✅ Insurance Requirements
NADCA members must maintain general liability insurance, ensuring they’re professionally prepared and financially accountable while working in your home.
✅ Continued Education & Training
NADCA encourages ongoing training to keep technicians updated on the latest techniques, safety standards, and technologies in the industry.
